Phyllis J. Capps, 70, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at her home in Garnett, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Highland Cemetery. Phyllis was born Friday, June 8, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Jessie and Mildred (Simpson) Foster. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a near life-long Kansas resident, living in Ottawa, Wellsville, and Garnett. Phyllis graduated from South East High School with the class of 1963. She was united in marriage with Jesse Capps Jr., October 9, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death October 31, 2015. Survivors include her son, Randy Capps, Spring, Texas; daughters, Vayda Beshears and husband Doug of Garnett, Kansas, and Dana Capps of Ottawa; sister, Debbie Foster-Hughes, Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jerry McKinley, Jesse McKinley, Caleb Karl Capps, and Alexis Jean Capps; and four great-grandchildren, Alania Jean McKinley, Paislee McKinley, Caiden McKinley, and Isabell McKinley. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Carolyn Farr. She was a homemaker. For ten years she was employed at the JCPenny call center in Lenexa. While she lived in Wellsville, she was employed at the Dairy Freeze and Crist & Sons Grocery. Phyllis enjoyed going to the lake, where she loved to go fishing and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, and loved her children and grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to March of Dimes c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
