Peggy Lou Miller, 91, of Ottawa, passed away, Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Vintage Park of Ottawa.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. The family will meet with friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. prior to service hour.
Interment 3:00 P.M., Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas.
Peggy was born, April 11, 1931, in Independence, Kansas, the daughter of Edward E. and Elsie M. (Rose) McKain.
She lived in Ottawa since the early 1960’s, moving there from Independence, Kansas.
Peggy graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1949.
She was united in marriage to Arthur G. Miller July 21, 1957 at Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2007.
Peggy worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Independence from the late 1940’s to the early 1960’s and a bookkeeper for the Southwestern Bell in Ottawa from the early 1960’s to her retirement in 1980. She then worked as a bookkeeper for the Franklin County Treasurer from the early 1980’s to 1993.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ottawa, the Oxford Service Forum and Ottawa Promenaders Square Dance Club. Peggy enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards and watching Royals baseball, Chiefs football and KU basketball games. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Art and attending shows at the Dinner Theater. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was always important and she looked forward to their time together.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Art, parents and infant sister, Norma J. McKain.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Guge (Scott) of Pomona; grandchildren, Sarah Duggan (Edward) of Manhattan, Kansas, Holly Harris (Ben) of Ottawa, Emma Guge and Parker Guge both of Pomona; great niece, Tayler Markus (Tyler) of Ottawa; great grandchildren, Murphy Duggan, Eilish Duggan, Edie Duggan, William Harris, Claire Harris, Madalyn Markus and Jessie Markus; sister in law, Jennie Miller of Paola and brother in law, Dale Miller, Independence, Missouri and Frank Miller (Sue) of Reno, Nevada.
