Opal Marie Frankenfield, 70, of Spring Hill, passed away on April 30, 2024, at Olathe Medical Center.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, starting at 6:00 pm, located at Dengel & Son-Paola Chapel. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, starting at 11:00 am, also at the Paola Chapel. Burial will follow the service at the Paola Cemetery. There will be a chance to share some words at Opal's service, so please feel encouraged to.
She was born on January 16, 1954, to Daniel and Zora (Daniels) Muncy in Aurora, MO.
Opal worked as a Warehouse Associate for JCPennys for over 30 years.
On June 22, 1972, she married Lynn Frankenfield. They made their home in Spring Hill, Kansas, where they raised their children. Opal and Lynn were united in marriage for 51 years.
Opal was an avid gardener. Showing and teaching others how to preserve and can her summer harvest.
Opal was a lifeline to the Muncy family. She was truly invested in the lives of her siblings. It may have been a mystery but she always seemed to have the answer. Always willing to help out of love and devotion and not obligation. Her friends say that she was such a great lady and they feel the world is a little more empty with her gone. She was a loving grandmother, engaged in the lives of her grandchildren. Always wanting to spend time with them. Opal will be missed immensely by all who knew her.
Opal is survived by her children, Daughter, Michelle (Ed) Hellwig, Daughter, Peggy (Leon) Reiter, Brother, James "Bud" Muncy, Brother, Donald Ray Muncy, Sister, Ella May Kelley, Sister, Sara Churchill, Sister, Mary (Buddy) Carpenter, Sister, Marine Keating. She was also survived by 8 grandchildren; Shauna, Jolie, and Audra Cartwright, and Lucy and Bill Hellwig, Lucas, Nathan, and Lillian Reiter, as well as her loving dog, Buster.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Lynn, Grandson, Timothy Cartwright, Brother, DP "Junior" Muncy, Brother, Lee Muncy, Brother, Charles "Charlie" Muncy.
