Olive A. Geuy 97, of Paola, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Services will be Wed,. July 30, at 10AM, at the 1st Lutheran Church in Paola, Kansas. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, from 6 to 7:30 PM at the Penwell Gabel Funeral Home Chapel, 305 North Pearl Street, "To leave a special message for the family, please visit our website at www.PenwellGabel.com." Olive was born on Sept 27, 1910 in Paola, Kansas, to Herman J. Schmidt and Carolina Potts Schmidt, and was raised in the Block Community. In 1932 she married Glen C. Geuy. To this union two daughters were born, JoAnn and Shirley. Olive stayed very active. She loved crocheting, writing poetry, playing cards, singing, dancing, playing the organ, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Olive was the oldest member of the 1st Lutheran Church, having been a member for 84 years. She was the last survivor of the original conformation class. Olive was also an avid politician. Preceding her in death are her parents, Herman and Carolina Schmidt, husband, Glen, daughter, Shirley Goodeyon, two brothers, Ernest and Henry Schmidt, four sisters, Rosena Fort, Louise Gerken, Gunilda Bevan, and Wilhelmina Monthey. Survivors are daughter JoAnn Russell of Paola, grandchildren, Mike Goodeyon, Marla Kunfermann, Melanie Goodyon, Ty and Tracy Russell, and 13 great grandchildren.
