Mr. W. T. Everette (Palmer), Sr.

W.T. (Dub) Everette, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Paola, Kansas on February 13, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born on January 22, 1931 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Luther W. Palmer and Mae Willie Everette. Both of his parents passed away when he was a small child and as such, W.T. was raised by his mother’s sister, Jo Willie Everette Sandridge. W.T first attended school at a Catholic Orphanage Home in Wichita, Kansas and later moved to Arkansas to live with his Aunt Jo Willie. At the age of 16, he joined the U. S. Air Force. After his military service, he returned to Kansas and went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad where he worked for more than 40 years. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Claudia Mae Garrett of Blackwell, Arkansas. To this union, five children were born. W.T. was “a Jack of all trades” from plumbing to repairing cars and anything else that needed to get done. No job was too big or too small for W.T. He wasn't afraid to try new things because he was confident that he could figure it out, and he always did. As a young man, he enjoyed fast sporty cars, this earned him the title “Big Time”. Also during his youth, he learned the importance of keeping his cars in pristine shape. So if something was wrong, he fixed it. He enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening, and cooking. W.T. also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who made sure that all of the children and grandchildren “understood the value of a dollar”. His greatest joys and accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. Everyone that knew him loved him. He will be deeply missed by all and will forever be in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Claudia and his son David Everette, Sr. W.T. is survived by his sister, Mae Ester Everette Garlington (Ben) of Kansas City, Kansas and Lorene Palmer Reese who was like a sister of Morrilton, Arkansas; his loving children, W.T. Everette, Jr. (Anna) of New Orleans, Louisiana; Claude Everette (Lisa) of Morrilton, Arkansas; Linda Everette-Williams (Ralph) of Morrilton, Arkansas; Daniel Howard Everette (Ella), of Olathe, Kansas, Pearl Clarke (Joe) of Brea California; Charles Murray of Morrilton, Arkansas and Randa Everette Echeverria, of Olathe, Kansas. Additionally, Mr. Everette is survived by sisters in law Margaret Garrett-Hickman, Clara Garrett Lofton, Martha GarrettMcKindra (Alex) and brothers in law Robert Garrett (Brenda) Jerry Garrett and Otis Ross. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
