Melvin L. Dixon, 80, Ottawa, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at his home. He was born Dec. 18, 1925, at Grove, Ark., to William London Dixon and Emma Marie (Ramsey) Dixon. He moved from Arkansas to Lawrence in 1953. He moved to Ottawa in 1956. He attended Western Grove High School at Western Grove, Ark. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ottawa. He worked as a truck driver at Delers Transport Co., Liberty, Mo., for 25 years. He retired in 1969. He worked as a car salesman at Alvin Crist Auto, Ottawa, for 27 years. He retired in 2001. He married Nina M. Roberts, March 12, 1954, at Lamar, Mo. She survives. Survivors also include sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Terri Dixon, Rantoul, and Larry and Jana Dixon, Ottawa; brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Candy Martin, Washington, Mo.; sisters, Norma Sharp, Clarksville, Tenn., and Willadean West, Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Anita Hoekstra, Overland Park, John Dixon, DeSoto, Amy Castleberry and Chelsea Bueno, both of Ottawa; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Phillip Ross Dixon. SERVICES: Family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2006. Family will have private services at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. IN STATE: Mr. Dixon was cremated. CEMETERY: Private inurnment services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
