Max Eldon Blankenbeker, age 76, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Brookside Manor, Overbrook, Kansas.
Celebration of life will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at PrimeTime Grille, 2204 S Princeton Circle, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
Max was born on Thursday, April 10, 1947, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the youngest of six children to Harley and Pauline (Goodwine) Blankenbeker. Max grew up and was raised in Ottawa, and graduated from Princeton High School.
He worked for King Radio for many years. Max later worked at the Walmart Distribution Center.
He enjoyed being outdoors, and loved to fish, hunt, garden and mushroom hunt. In his later years, Max enjoyed to paint. He enjoyed traveling and riding his motorcycle across the country. Max had a deep knowledge of American History, especially the Civil War era. His favorite pastime was spending time with his friends around the bonfire and playing Risk.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Pauline Blankenbeker, infant brother, Don, and two sisters, Wilma and Gayle.
He is survived by his three children; Tom (John Simas) Blankenbeker, of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Amanda Blankenbeker, of Powell, Wyoming, and Chloe (Erik) Platt, of Princeton, Kansas, three grandchildren, Alia, Max and Brayden, two sisters, Delores and Beryl, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to Ottawa Community Arts Council, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory Street, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
