Maurice " Mauri" Buresh

Maurice H.”Mauri” Buresh, age 88, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Midland Care of Topeka. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church, 4011 N. Kansas Avenue, Topeka. The family will meet with friends Tuesday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to services. : Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Franklin County Kansas 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Mauri was born September 8, 1926 in Saratoga, Iowa, the son of Frank and Frances (Dvoracek) Buresh, They preceded him in death. Mauri graduated from Riceville High School in Iowa during 1944. He attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and graduated in 1953 from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948. Mauri was a life-long Civil Engineer. From 1953 to 1955, he worked for the Illinois Highway Department. Next, Mauri was employed for forty-three years with Finney and Turnipseed Consulting Engineers of Topeka. On November 24, 1956, Mauri was united in marriage with Georgianna Edgerton in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. Other survivors include his three children, Dianna Holscher and her husband, Dave of Ashville, Ohio, Marianna McKnight and her, husband Jeff of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Eric Buresh and his wife, Terah of Leawood, Kansas; six grandchildren, Joshua and Megan McKnight, Ethan, Noah, Grant and Hudson Buresh. Mauri was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Topeka and a former member of Highland Crest Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church, both of Topeka. Mauri held leadership positions in all of these churches and was also a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed hiking and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
