Mary Frances Degrande

Mary Frances De Grande, age 80 years and 19 days, of Paola KS, died May 22, 2008, at home with her loving family after a short illness. A Rosary will be at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola on Monday May 26, 2008 at 6 pm with the visitation following from 6:30 to 8:00pm. The service will be Tuesday May 27 at the holy Trinity Catholic Church at 10:00am. Burial will follow the service at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Paola, KS. The family wishes in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Holy Trinity Building Fund. Mary Frances was born May 3, 1928 in Lenexa, KS to Hugh and Mary Herman Thompson. Mary attended Franklin Hall School, Olathe and Holy Trinity Elementary school, Lenexa. She graduated with the class of 1946 from St John High School, Olathe, KS. She married Bernard J. DeGrande February 11, 1950 in Lenexa, KS. They made their home on a farm in Paola, KS, in 1967. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its Altar Society, Paola KS, Miami County Medical Center Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary Post 156, Paola. She was a former member of Homemaker FCC and a past 4-H leader. Mary loved crocheting, knitting, quilting and crafts of all types. Preceding her in death are her parents Hugh and Mary Thompson, a sister Betty Sue Huber, a brother James Thompson and infant twin great grandsons Jesse and Wyatt DeGrande. She is survived by her husband, B.J. DeGrande, Sons Carl and wife Terry, and David De Grande, daughter Joyce Smith and Ron all of Paola. Daughter Patty Wiseman and husband Mike of Baldwin City, KS. She is also survived by two brothers, Charles Thompson, Olathe and Hugh Thompson Jr.of Gardner, KS and a sister, Rita Pennybaker Lawrence, KS and her Ten Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren.
