Mary E. Fowler

Mary E. Fowler, 79, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

Family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa followed by a private family inurnment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mary was born on Monday, November 29, 1943, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Gene Paul and Frances A (Kleinschmidt) Mille.

She lived most of her life in Ottawa and lived for a time in Junction City and Garnett.

Mary graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1962.

Mary was a homemaker and worked for several years at H. D. Lee in Ottawa and at King Radio-Allied Signal in Ottawa and Lawrence, Kansas.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa.

In 1963 Mary was united in marriage with Johnny Hooton. They were later divorced. She was united in marriage to Howard L. Fowler, they were later divorced. On May 25, 1990, she married Lloyd L. “Lonnie” Stierwalt at Gardner, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David Mille, Frank Mille, Kenneth Mille, Richard Mille, infant brother, Eugene Paul Mille and sister, Beverly Sellers.

Survivors include son, Kevin Fowler and his wife, Pamela and daughter, Roxanne Reeves and her husband, Isaac, all of Ottawa; grandchildren, Kevin A. Fowler, Krysten Fowler, Brittany Reeves, Zachary Reeves and Christopher Cook and seven great grandchildren.

Mary enjoyed the company of her caregivers, solving word search puzzles, watching Kansas City Chiefs football games and old western television shows. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was always important and she looked forward to their time together.
