Mary C. Weigand, 75, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at her home. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 8, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Family will meet with friends from 9:30 A.M., Monday to service time at the church. Inurnment Mt. Calvary, Ottawa Mary C. Tesar was born May 7, 1944 in Sydney, Nebraska and moved to rural Pomona with her family in 1951. She graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1962. Mary worked briefly in the Admissions Office of the University of Kansas before taking a job with Continental Telephone in Ottawa. She married Tom Weigand April 8, 1967 and they shared a partnership of 52 years and 2 months. From their marriage four children were born, Nancy, Jill, Adam and Carrie. Mary kept books for their farming operation and managed the family feed store in Ottawa for 10 years. She served 12 years on the USD 287 School Board. She was a legal assistant in the Jordan-Chappell law firm in Ottawa for 11 years. She then joined the American Academy of Family Physicians as a staff assistant working for them for 11 years before retiring in 2011. While she and her husband lived in Junction City, she was an active member of the Old Troopers Group and the Reading Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Loretta Tesar and brother, Tony. Survivors include husband, Tom of the home; four children, Nancy Worthington (Dave) Dane and Emma of Overland Park, Kansas, Jill Pyle (Kendall) Drew and Logan of Waverly, Kansas, Adam Weigand (Lisa) Macie, Tristan and Amelya of Monona, Iowa, and Carrie Gordley (David) Anna and Ellie of Naples, Florida; two brothers, Glenn Tesar (Irma) of Lawrence, Kansas and John Tesar (Linda) of Independence, Missouri; sister-in-law, Peg Tesar also of Independence, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa for over 52 years. Mary stayed in touch with many of her friends she became close to in her work life. She loved her family and enjoyed attending the activities of her nine grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and had been to Europe three times, to China and to 46 of the 50 states in the United States. Mary lived a full life surrounded by friends and family and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
