Margaret Ann “Maggie” Garman, age 90, of Ottawa, Kansas passed May 25, 2024 at Rock Creek of Ottawa, Kansas.
Memorial Visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2024 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas.
Maggie was born in Great Bend, Kansas on October 28, 1933 to Thomas Watson Page and Minnie Lucille (White) Page.
Maggie was united in marriage to David Garman on May 31, 1953 in Topeka, Kansas. They were happily married until his passing in 2014. Maggie received her RN degree from Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, KS. She worked for many years at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Kansas, serving in various nursing areas. She retired in February 1997.
Maggie’s hobbies included knitting, flower gardening as well as riding her horses, “Samara” and “La Boom”. She was a self-taught artist/painter who enjoyed pysanky (traditional Ukrainian egg decorating). Maggie served as a 4-H leader in Williamsburg for many years. Being an animal lover, she enjoyed volunteering at Prairie Paws Animal Shelter for many years.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband David. Survivors include her three sons: David Wayne Garman and wife Carol of Columbia, Missouri, Scott Alan Garman and wife Joyce of Wellsville, and Gary Lee Garman and wife Gena of Wellsville; Sister: Joy Thornbrugh; 12 Grandchildren; 22 Great-Grandchildren; and one Great- Great-Grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
