Lorraine Ann Seckington passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019. She was 88. Lorraine was greatly loved. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Lorraine Ann was born January 22, 1931 in Quenemo, Kansas. Her parents were Theron and Clara Cole. She attended school until the fifth grade in Quenemo, later moving to Ottawa and De Soto, Kansas, where she graduated high school. She married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Seckington on November 12, 1950. Lorraine and Bill moved to Platte County, Missouri in 1959, where they raised their family and Bill worked for TWA for 35 years. Bill and Lorraine were charter members of Platte Woods United Methodist Church where the entire family was active. Lorraine was a Cub Scout leader for many years for her three sons, and worked as a recruiter for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop. She was a PTA member and officer for many years. She worked for the Park Hill School District several years as her children were growing up. She later went to work for Local 34-627, Musicians’ Union, in downtown Kansas City. She remained there until her retirement in 1989. Lorraine and Bill moved to Ottawa in 1990 to spend their retirement. They joined the First United Methodist Church and have been very active members. She belonged to the Dorcas Circle, Oxford Service Sunday School Class, and many committees, including Fourth Monday and the Worship and Fellowship Committees. She is survived by her husband of 68 years and four children, Michael Seckington and wife Linda of Paxinos, PA, Mark Seckington and wife Laura of Ballwin, MO, Vicki Santoro and husband Vincent of Kansas City, MO, and Gregory Seckington and wife Kathy of San Diego, CA. She leaves eight grandchildren, Amy Clark of Liberty, MO, Theron Seckington of Champaign, IL, Hannah and Luke Seckington of St. Louis, MO, Nicholas Santoro of Kansas City, MO, Kathryn Sterling of Kansas City, MO, and Emily and Benjamin Seckington of San Diego, CA. Lorraine is survived by great-grandsons, Brendan and Mason Clark of Liberty, MO, and great-granddaughter, Reese Sterling of Kansas City, MO. She leaves two brothers, Benton Cole of Bristol, TN, and Dr. Bruce Cole of Overbrook, KS, as well as a sister, Linda Timm of Lyndon, KS. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Levonne Scott; niece Cathy Scott; and nephew, Bryce Cole.
