Lorene Pauline (Halbauer) Purdon age 84, of Stilwell, KS, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 15, 2010. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Wea, Catholic Church 22779 Metcalf, Bucyrus, KS. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 19, at the church. The day before she passed she had a joyous day in her garden with her flowers, she spoke to her sister Teresa and enjoyed some good lemon cake. Lorene was born in Kansas City, Kansas on January 21, 1926 to Louis and Elizabeth Beeker Halbauer. Lorene met Edmund B. Purdon (Eddie) and was married to him in June of 1946, spending almost 64 years together. She sewed, crocheted, painted, gardened, took lots of pictures, bowled, played the piano, organ and anything else she thought she should try and she tried everything. She worked briefly outside the home at Hallmark Cards, prior to marriage and then briefly for the IRS. She was preceded in death by her Parents, one brother, Vincent; sisters, Dorothy, Louise, Mary and Martina. Lorene is survived by her husband, Edmund of the home, two sisters, Loretta McDermott and her husband Bob of Overland Park, KS; Theresa Halbauer of Kansas City, MO; two children, daughter Gloria Divine and husband Jerry of Lenexa, KS; son, Steven Purdon of Linnwood, KS, 6 Grandchildren; Clint and Tiffany Divine, Jacob, Luke, Joe and Adam Purdon.
