Leland Leroy Durham

Leland LeRoy Durham, 88, of Paola, Kansas, passed away at his home on Friday, September 22, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Family will meet with friends at Dengel and Son, Paola Chapel, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. for the visitation with services starting at 11:00 a.m.

He was born on Sunday, September 30, 1934, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Emory and Florence (Forney) Durham.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Jeffery on May 8, 1953. They made their home in Paola since 1973, and raised two children.

Leland attended Kansas State University enrolled in electrical engineering. In 1953, he worked for Kansas Power and Light in Manhattan, Kansas and Salina Supply Company in Salina, Kansas in 1962. When they moved to Miami County, he went into a partnership with Enviro-Line Company in Osawatomie, Kansas. Since 1983, he went to work for Ray Lindsey until retirement.

His hobbies were traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, and their son Jeff.

Leland is survived by his daughter Vicki (Chris) Kemplay of Paola; grandsons James Kemplay of Gardner and Steven (Tamara) Kemplay of Paola; three great-grandchildren Barrett Kemplay, June Kemplay, and Elsie Kemplay.
