Larry Paul Barrett

Larry P. Barrett, 81, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Family will meet with friends from 11:00 A.M. to noon, Friday, April 29, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Followed by a graveside service at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Larry was born February 14, 1941, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Ivan and Angie (Knight) Barrett. He lived in various locations throughout his lifetime including Richmond, Kansas; Ottawa, Kansas; Emporia, Kansas, and Lebo, Kansas. Larry was a truck driver for multiple companies, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, watching NASCAR, KC Chiefs and KC Royals. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Troy Barrett. Survivors include two children, Virginia Baker and Kevin Barrett both of Ottawa; two siblings, Winifred Fields of Hutchinson, and Galen Barrett of Emporia; four grandchildren, Dustin Baker, Melissa Baker, Brandon Malone all of Ottawa, and Ricky Baker of Lawrence; and 9 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to For the Love of Mateo to help those in need in his community and in Guatemala.
