Kevin Lee Duty

Kevin Lee Duty, 57, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at The University of Kansas Health System. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, October 22, 2021, at the mortuary. Interment Lone Elm Cemetery, Lone Elm, Kansas. Kevin was born November 22, 1963, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Jorita (Watson) Duty. He lived in Wichita, Kansas from the mid-1970’s to 1990, moving to Ottawa, Kansas where he lived from 1990 to 2012. In 2012, Kevin moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he made his home until his death. Kevin graduated from Wichita North High School with the Class of 1982 and continued his education at Allen County Community College graduating with an Associate of Arts in 1984. He graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1989. From the mid-1980’s to the early 1990’s, Kevin was in the Kansas Army National Guard in Iola, Kansas. Kevin was currently employed with the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City, Missouri, as a front-line manager/new recruit trainer where he has worked for 25 years. He was a member of SAIGE (Society of American Indian Government Employees). Kevin enjoyed gaming groups, escape rooms, and spending time with his kids. He was preceded in death by his son Benjamin Duty and stepfather Ron Belden. Survivors include his mother Jorita Belden of Wichita, Kansas; two children, Bethany Duty and Blake Duty both of Independence, Missouri; five siblings, Keith (Peggy) Duty, Ken (Jennifer) Duty, Deanna Miner, Brent (Michele) Belden all of Wichita, and Wade Belden of Kansas City, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and two great nephews. Contributions for funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated by the family. Checks should be made payable to Bethany Duty c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
