Kenneth E. Hennessey

Kenneth E. Hennessey, 81, of Ottawa, Kansas, entered the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his son’s residence at Richmond, Kansas. Private graveside services will be held at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. Ken was born April 6, 1939 at Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Glen and Eula (Barnett) Hennessey. He lived in Kansas City and Independence, Missouri until his family came to live in Ottawa at Amazing Grace Baptist Camp in 1972. He lived in the Ottawa and Pomona area until his death. He graduated from East High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1958 and took college courses at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri. Ken married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Anne Cayce, at the age of 18. When he was 21, he made the most important decision of his life and received Christ as his Savior. His life goal then became sharing Jesus Christ and the joy of the Lord with everyone he met. He was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri until 1972, and North Lawrence Baptist Church in Lawrence, Kansas. The family enjoyed serving together at Amazing Grace Baptist Camp, where Ken was the Camp Director. He also enjoyed ministering as Assistant Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa where he worked with the Jolly 60’s and young marrieds. He impacted the lives of many co-workers and retired from the City of Ottawa. During this time, Bro. Ken pastored at Centropolis and Flint Hills Baptist Churches. Ken loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed the Christmas season celebrating the birth of his Savior, Jesus. Repairing lawn mowers and working on his red 1952 Chevy pickup, that his kids bought for him, were hobbies Ken enjoyed. Everyone adored Pa’s happy disposition and his corny, but clean jokes. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce on July 1, 2011 and his parents, Glen and Eula Hennessey. Ken and Joyce were blessed with four ornery “angels”, Bob (Kelley) Hennessey, Richmond, Christie (Jerry) Lee, Plattsmouth, NE, Kathie (Ron) Puterbaugh, Ft. Scott, and Lori (Jim) Roush, Princeton; 16 incredible grandchildren and 17 amazing great grandchildren. His only brother, Howard (Kay) Hennessey, Independence, MO cherished the time spent with Kenny.
