Kenneth N. “Buzz” Watts, Jr., 64, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at his home in Olathe, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014, at the mortuary. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. Military honors by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Buzz was born Saturday, August 19, 1950, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Kenneth “Pete” and Evelyn Josephine (Nuessen) Watts. He has lived in Olathe for ten years moving from Pomona where he was raised and lived the majority of his life. He graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1968. Buzz was united in marriage with Suenell Shaw November 24, 1974, in Ottawa. They later divorced. He married Jacque Dreiling December 23, 2004, in Olathe. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his two children, Ben Watts and wife Sarah of Olathe, and Emily Hogelin and husband Brian of Ottawa; four stepsons, Brandon Kane of Kansas City, Missouri, Ty Kane and wife Amy of Wichita, Austin Moss of Overland Park, and Parker Moss of Lawrence; siblings, Debbie Watts of Lenexa, Sherry Hiles of Ottawa, Charlie Watts and wife Glenda of Olathe, Doug Watts of Centropolis, Brenda Hawkins and husband Roy of Ottawa, and Kathi Watts of Hillsdale; five grandchildren, Madison and Kingston Hogelin, Jayden, Makenzi, and Hadley Watts; and three step grandchildren, Avery, Levi, and Evie Kane. He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Reese Avery Watts. Buzz was in flooring and installation his entire life. He worked for Classic Floors in Overland Park for more than twenty years, where he became a supervisor. He previously worked for Bud Jennings Carpet in Lawrence, and Anderson Carpet in Ottawa. Buzz served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from February 6, 1970 to January 30, 1973, obtaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. His decorations and citations included National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a former deacon at the Assembly of God Church in Pomona. Buzz loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and watching the Royals and Jayhawks.
