Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Lovig, age 65, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. There will be services in Paola and services in Hanover, Kansas. Paola services: visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the Paola First Lutheran Church and the funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 18, 2018, at Paola First Lutheran Church. Hanover services: visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Hanover Trinity Lutheran Church and the funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Hanover Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Hanover Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Kathy was born Wednesday, September 24, 1952, in Hanover, KS, the daughter of Harold and Verla (Blanke) Kruse. She grew up in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School. She then attended Concordia College in Nebraska. Kathy was united in marriage to Dean Lovig on November 24, 1972 in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Hanover. They made their home in Paola and became the parents of two sons. Kathy worked in the banking industry as a financial trust officer. She started her banking career at Miami County National Bank then Team Bank in Paola. She later went to work at First Option Bank in Paola where she was currently employed. She was an excellent cake baker with great decorating skills. She was a huge K-State fan and especially enjoyed K-State football. But Kathy's most treasured pastime was the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Paola and Paola Rotary Club. She was preceded in death by her father Harold Kruse. Survivors include her husband Dean of their home; her mother Verla Kruse of Hanover; two sons Ryan Lovig of Manhattan, KS and Eric (Jena) Lovig of Paola; two grandsons Zander and Cohen Lovig; a sister Laura Kunkel of Roswell, New Mexico; three brothers Allan Kruse, Richard Kruse, David Kruse all of Hanover; many other relatives and a host of friends.
