Joshua J. Hancock, 21 of Parker, Kansas passed away August 5th, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Olathe, KS. Joshua was born April 6, 1989 in Plattsburg, NY to Herbert and Jennifer Northern Hancock. He graduated in 2008 from Merrimack High School in Merrimack, NH and went on to enroll at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS where he was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. He delayed the start of his junior year at Pittsburg this year to attend National Guard Basic Training Camp. At the time of his death, he was working as a temporary laborer, due to leave for basic training on August 22nd. Joshua enjoyed the outdoors, fly fishing, canoeing, sailing, traveling, playing basketball, cooking, spending time with his family and playing La Crosse and was a member of the Pittsburg State La Crosse team. He is preceded in death by a sister, Sabrina Hancock; and maternal grandmother, Joan Hoppe. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother and step-father, Jennifer and John Harnett of Parker, KS; father and step-mother, Diane and Herbert Hancock of Merrimack, NH; two brothers, Geret and Daniel Hancock of Parker, KS; a step-brother, Mason Hancock of Merrimack, NH; long-time girlfriend, Kayla Edmonds; maternal grandparents, Jim and Teresa Northern of LaCygne, KS; fraternal grandmother, Marie Hancock of Merrimack, NH; an aunt, Donna Hoppe of McLouth, KS; and an aunt and uncle, Kelly and Lori Northern of Parker, KS. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Joshua Hancock Memorial Fund.
