Joseph Herbert Miles, 77, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away, Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, March 8, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Joe was born on Sunday, October 24, 1943, in Centerville, Mississippi, the son of Joseph H. Sr. and Mary Anna (Miles) Miles. He lived in Ottawa since the early 1960’s moving here from Springerville, Arizona. Joe attended Round Valley High School, Springerville, Arizona later receiving a GED. He owned and operated Bell’s Towing Service in Ottawa for 35 years retiring in 2014. Joe enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the 1960’s, stationed in France. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sandy Miles. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Miles of Overland Park, Kansas and Douglas Miles of Ottawa, Kansas; brothers, Steve Miles of Scottsdale, Arizona and Patrick Miles of Grand Junction, Colorado; sister, Patsy Miles of Springerville, Arizona and granddaughter, Courtney Kraus (Dalen) of Ottawa. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Ottawa Lodge #803 BPOE and Hog member of the Harley Motorcycle Owners club. Joe liked riding motorcycles and traveling. He also liked sport shooting and going to breakfast on the weekends with his friends. Joe especially enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.
