Jerry Lee Jones, 77, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at his home with his loving wife by his side.

Family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00pm, Monday, April 8, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas.

Jerry was born Monday, October 14, 1946, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Willis E. “Bill” and Anna May (Williams) Jones.

He lived in Ottawa, Kansas moving there from Wellsville, Kansas, in 1993.

Jerry graduated from Chanute High School with the class of 1966.

He served in the United State Army in 1966 attaining the rank of PVT E-2. Jerry continued serving his active duty as a member of the Army National Guard of Kansas.

Jerry was united in marriage on September 10, 1988, in Olathe, Kansas to Lisa Jo Carnell. She survives of the home.

He worked in steel manufacturing in maintenance and welding for Smith & Loveless from 1969-2010.

Jerry was a wonderful, loving, “ornery” man who loved to make people laugh, spending time fishing and boating at Melvern lake and doing his wood working projects. He will be so missed.

He was preceded in death by parents Bill and Anna; brothers Jimmy Jones, Darrell Jones, and Larry Jones; and sister Dixie Owens.

Along with his wife Lisa, survivors include daughters Deana Kerr of Wellsville, Kansas and LeAnn Heckman of Ottawa, Kansas; four grandchildren Tyler, Trevor, Dalton and Rylee; and one great grandchild Payzli.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Salvation Army c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
