Jean M. Sims

Jean M. Sims was born on Friday, August 13, 1948, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She grew up in Ottawa and lived in Pomona, Kansas for twenty-four years, moving to Olathe, Kansas in 2003, where she made her home until her death on Friday, April 17, 2009, at the age of sixty years. Jean graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1966. She was employed in electronics assembly by Castle Creations in Olathe. Jean was an outgoing person who loved spending time with her family and visiting with her friends. Jean is survived by her mother, Gloria Darlene Jones of Ottawa, Kansas; son, Ace Sims of Lenexa, Kansas; daughter and son-in-law, Darleta and Lee Edwards of Olathe, Kansas; and granddaughter, Kaitlin Edwards of Olathe, Kansas. Jean is preceded in death by her father, Orville D. Jones, and sister, Delene Turner. One of her greatest joys in life was that she got to spend time with her granddaughter, Kaitlin. She was the one thing that no matter how bad she felt could brighten up her day. Jean will be missed as a daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, and best friend. But she will always be remembered as strong, caring, and inspiring. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Hope Cemetery in Ottawa at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Sims from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary where the family will meet with friends to from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to processing to the cemetery.
