James Terry Fickel

August 31, 1949 — March 20, 2024

James (Jim) Terry Fickel, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on March 20, 2024, at the University of Kansas Hospital.

Jim was born on August 31, 1949, in Paola, Kansas, to Herbert and Terry Ann (Waugh) Fickel.

He was an avid lover of History and enjoyed reading. Jim’s favorite food was fried chicken from Miss B’s in Louisburg, KS (KFC was always a good stand-by). He also loved whoppers and orange slice candy. He enjoyed walking everywhere and would often be seen with a Swisher Sweets cigar. Jim was quite the character and never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking and joking with folks and left a fond impression on everyone he met.

Jim will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Dale, and his parents, Herb and Terry.

He is survived by his brother, John Fickel (Liz); his nephew, Daryck Fickel (Traci); his nieces, Janie Bush and Kacey Fickel; and a grandniece, Madison Bush.

Viewing and family visitation will be held at Dengel and Son Mortuary at 11:00 am, Friday, March 29, 2024, in Paola, KS, followed by a burial at Paola Cemetery.
