James D. Jim Worley, 69, of Ottawa, Kansas, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully Friday, March 3, 2017, in his home surrounded by loved ones. Cremation is planned. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 10, 2017, at the mortuary. Jim was born Friday, February 20, 1948, in Boonville, Missouri, the son of Kenneth W. and Anice E. (McCoy) Worley. Jim graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, with the class of 1966 and from Missouri Western State University also in St Joseph, Missouri with a BSBA. Jim was married to Dianna K. Pitts in 1970. They later divorced. Jim then was united in marriage with Janet D. “Missy” DeWald in 1995. She survives of the home. He is also survived by sons, David Worley and Paul Worley and wife Abby all of St. Joseph, Missouri; daughters, Sarah Worley of St. Joseph, and Kay Turner and husband Bryson of Gardner; stepson, Kyle Kneller and Sydney of Ottawa; sister, Janice Garrett and husband Don of Eldon, Missouri; brothers, Ken Worley Jr. and wife Cathy of Kansas City, Missouri, and Ron Worley and wife Victoria of Platte City, Missouri; and grandchildren, Kennadi, Dominick, Delaney, Alison, Lydia, Karter and Simon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anice Worley; paternal grandparents, Oliver and Addie Worley; and maternal grandparents, Lewis and Lucy McCoy. Jim worked as an accountant for Buildex, Inc. in Ottawa, before retiring. He was a member of the Ottawa Lodge 803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Aerie Lodge 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ottawa, and the Moose Lodge in Goshen, Indiana. Jim loved golfing, bowling, and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He was an avid Missouri Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Jim was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. The family suggests memorial contributions to Ottawa Elks Lodge or Avalon Hospice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
