Jacqueline Ann “Jackie” Schmidt Kierl passed away April 27, 2024 after a short bout with pneumonia. She was surrounded by family and loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 starting at 6:00 pm at Dengel & Son-Paola Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 starting at 10:00 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church located in Paola, a rosary will held at 9:30 am prior to mass.
Jackie was born June 15, 1932 to Fred and Marie Schmidt in Kansas City, Mo. She married Francis J. (Jerry) Kierl on May 30th, 1952 and together they had 8 children. In addition to raising their large family, Jackie worked as a nurse at Providence Hospital in Kansas City and at Miami County Hospital after moving to Paola, Kansas in 1965. She also worked with her husband at Jerry’s Tax Service until his death in 1990.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Kierl, her sister, Mary Kegin, her brother Fred Schmidt, her daughter Ellen Sue Kierl, and her parents Fred and Marie Schmidt.
Jackie is survived by her sister Dorothy Schmidt of Overland Park and all eight children: Jerry (Kathy) Kierl, John (Joy) Kierl, Susan (Everett) Carpenter; Bill (Amy) Kierl, Ann (Rick) Chrisman, Julie (Merv) Dial, Joan (Joe) Riscoe, and Anita (Mike) Parsa.
Jackie is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: Bryan (Tracy) and daughter Sophie Frazee; Nicole (Jason) Neumann, and sons Simon, Matthew and Ben Neumann; Chris Kierl and daughter Katie Kierl; Jaxson Kierl; Steven Chrisman (Miranda); Michelle Chrisman; Ashley (Bill) Dillenbeck and son Dayson Dillenbeck; John Dial; Dr. Elizabeth Dial; Susan Riscoe; Sara Riscoe; Scott (Hailey) and son Elliot Riscoe; Max Parsa; Lydia Parsa; Miriam Parsa.
She was also loved and treasured by a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Jackie was a very active member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
