Iris Elaine Caleb, 90, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formally of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022. Private family graveside services at Muncie Indian Cemetery will be held at a later date. Iris was born Sunday, July 17, 1932, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Carl and Ilo (Fredricks) Plaschka. She graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1950. Iris lived in Ottawa until 1951 moving to Wichita Falls, Texas. She then moved back to Ottawa in 1954 until 1976 when she relocated to Apache Junction, Arizona and made her home until a few weeks ago relocating back to Ottawa to spend her last days with family. Iris was united in marriage to C. Dean Brownrigg in August 1950, they later divorced. In July 1971, she was united in marriage to Joseph Caleb in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2002. She was employed by Lesh Oil, Ottawa performing clerical duties in the early 1950s then took a position as a bank teller for Peoples National Bank, Ottawa in the late 1960s to mid-1970s. Iris was then employed by Wells Fargo Bank also performing teller duties in the mid-1980s until the mid-1990s. She was also the co-owner operator of Caleb Collectibles in Apache Junction, Arizona from 1976 to 2001. Iris was a member of the VFW Post 2420 Ladies Auxiliary in Apache Junction, Arizona. She enjoyed working in the yard, antiquing and traveling. Iris especially enjoyed time spent with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her husband Joseph, Iris was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bud Plaschka; and sisters, Lucille Robinson and Nadine Elder. Survivors include sons, Rodger Brownrigg of Emporia, Randy Brownrigg (Diana) of Ottawa, and Rick Brownrigg of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Debra Sylvester (Clyde) also of Ottawa; stepdaughter, Laura Fix (Joe) of Lawrence, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Iris will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
