Hubert Leo Summers

Hubert Leo Summers, age 89, of Bucyrus, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 am, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Louisburg Baptist Temple, 6961 W 271st Street, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will be held at Bucyrus Cemetery.

Hubert was born on Tuesday, October 30, 1934, in Paragould, Arkansas. He was the son of Clarence and Florence (Allen) Summers.

Hubert married Barbara Jean Matthews and together they had five children; Richard, Barbara, Dawn, Pamela and Cynthia. She preceded him in death in 2002.

Hubert worked for General Motors at the Willow Run Assembly in Ypsilanti, Michigan as a skilled trade pipefitter for 39 years.

He was united in to marriage to his second wife Marian Ray (Edenfield).

Hubert is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence Summers, wife, Barbara Summers, six siblings, and grandson, Arnold Cooper Jr.

Survivors include wife, Marian Summers, five children. Richard (Kathy) Summers, of Louisburg, Kansas, Barbara (Arnold Sr.) Cooper, of Bucyrus, Kansas, Dawn (Kevin) Shover, of Hayes, Virginia, Pamela (Kenneth) Kenley, of Bucyrus, Kansas, and Cynthia (Charles) Phipps, of Brownstown Township, Michigan, sister, Freda Pajac, of New Boston, Michigan, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to the Boys and Girls Bible Clubs, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.
