Henry L. H.L. Wilson, 85, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Olathe Medical Center. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the mortuary. Interment Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. H.L. was born Sunday, October 6, 1929 in Pomona, Kansas, the son of Henry S. and Wilma I. (Hase) Wilson. He has been a near lifelong resident of Richmond, Kansas. H.L. graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1947. H.L. served in the United States Navy, as a sailor, from January 9, 1949 until January 13, 1953 during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Sonarman 1st Class on the USS Rich. On Wednesday, June 24, 1953, Henry was united in marriage with Martha Sue Turner in Richmond. She survives of their home. Other survivors include his son Rex D. Wilson and wife Sheila of Richmond; two brothers, Robert W. Wilson of Richmond and Lafe W. Wilson of Uniontown, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tanya Wilson of Ottawa, Tasha Collins of Kansas City, Missouri, Tina Nelson and husband JJ of Olathe, Kansas and Tony J. Wilson of Joplin, Missouri; and four great grandchildren, Connor and Lawson Medlen and Thomas and Tyson Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Max A. Wilson. He was the mayor of Richmond from 1985 to 1998, president of the Richmond Co-op for eight years and served on the board for the East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging. H.L. was a lifelong self-employed farmer/cattleman in Richmond. He loved to farm and raise cattle. He was a warm and caring man who loved his family and friends and was available to help whenever he could. He will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of his family and friends forever.
