Glenwood Thies Parker Hauer

Glenwood Thies Schlotzhauer Parker Hauer age 94, of Olathe, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009, surrounded by his family. Glen was born January 14, 1915 in Bucyrus, KS, the second son of Ervin and Clara Thies Schlotzhauer. He spent his early life on his parents" farm three miles south of Bucyrus. He was one of 4 that graduated from Bucyrus High School and attended Ottawa University studying business. At age 33, Glen was married to Ruth Keeney. From this union, five children were born: a boy, Karl, and two sets of twins, Larry Glen and Garry Lynn, and Glena Ione and Donna Ruth. His wife brought a son, Leland, into the marriage, who was adopted into the family. Glen spent most of his life on the farm, working various forms of swine improvement. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Leland James Hauer; brother, Ralph William Schlotzhauer, sister, Marguerite Anabeth Watts and son-in-law Clifford Westhoff. Survivors include sons, Karl and Larry Hauer, both of Moscow Mills, MO, and Garry Hauer and his wife, Cindy, of Louisburg, KS; daughters, Glena Windisch and her husband, Larry, of Louisburg, KS, and Donna Westhoff of Olathe, KS; sister, Helen Carson of Cardiff, CA; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of The Latter Day Saints 28750 North Hospital Drive Paola, KS. Burial to follow at the Bucyrus Cemetery, Bucyrus, KS. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30a.m. Saturday at the LDS Church.
