Glenn M. Ray age 97 of St. Joseph, MO. passed away at the Saxton Riverside Care Center Friday. (Cremation), Visitation Monday Dec. 29, from 10 to 11:00AM at the Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. To leave condolences go to penwellgabel.com. Glenn was born Sept. 26, 1911 in Kansas City Kansas to James and Ida Frances Bowman Ray. He grew up in Kansas City and on Dec. 31, 1932 he was united in marriage to Grace Marie Bodine in St. Joseph, MO. They moved to rural Miami County on a farm, he worked for the Osawatomie Police Dept. for many years and later became the Police chief in Paola in the late 50"s. In the late 60"s they moved to Ottawa and in the 70"s to Olathe where he was employed along with his wife Grace at the Johnson County Juvenile detention home and as a security guard for the FAA, retiring in 1978. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Kenneth Ray, grandson Mark Ray, granddaughter Kandie Martin, brothers Norman, Clifford, John and sisters, Belma Benndorff, Berthel Day, and Pauline Wright. Survivors are son Richard and wife Kaye Ray of Olathe, dau. Joan and husband Tom Curnutte, of St. Joseph, MO. brother in law Eli Bodine of Paola, 9 grandchildren 18 great and 2 great great grandchildren.
