Gerald R. “Jerry” Bryant, 63, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Ottawa Retirement Village. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Princeton United Methodist Church. Family will meet with friends immediately following the service. Jerry was born Wednesday, May 20, 1953, in Independence, Kansas, the son of Clyde Edward and Ellen Louise (Lower) Bryant. He lived in Sycamore, Kansas, near Independence, moving in 1978 to Princeton. He graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1971 and continued his education at Southeast Kansas Technical School in Coffeyville receiving his automotive technician certificate. Jerry was united in marriage with Debra Sue Shafer July 1, 1978, in Iola, Kansas. She survives of their home. Other survivors include his five children, Joshua Bryant and wife Leah of Merriam, Adam Bryant of Leawood, Nicholas Bryant of Overland Park, Tyler E. Bryant and wife Michelle of Ottawa, and Maylee Harper and husband Sean of Topeka; two brothers, Larry Bryant, and Tom Bryant both of Independence; and five grandchildren, Eva Bryant, Ruth Bryant, Abraham Bryant, Lillian Bryant, and Riley Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ellen Bryant; and sister, Rhea Bryant. Jerry was employed as a parts manager for Jim Clark Motors in Lawrence; shift supervisor for Our Own Hardware in Ottawa; and as a manager for Advanced Auto Parts in Ottawa, retiring in 2012 due to his health. He was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Reserve. He was dedicated to his family and loved keeping his cars well maintained. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Jerry Bryant Memorial Fund. Donations will be used for his grandchildren’s educational fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
