George L. Chambers age 84 of Paola, passed away Thursday Dec. 27 at the Olathe Medical Center. Service will be Monday Dec. 31 at 2:00PM at Wilson and Son Chapel, visitation 1 to 2:00PM, burial Osawatomie Cemetery, in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Plum Creek Methodist Church in care of the Funeral Home 305 N. Pearl Paola KS. 66071. George was born Nov. 26, 1923 in Parsons, Kansas to Jesse Lee, and Iva Elizabeth Ellison Chambers. He was united in marriage on March 14, 1944 to Jennie Ricketts in Ottawa, Kansas. On the 17th of March 1944, George was inducted in the United States Marine Corp, he served his country until he was discharged as a Corporal on March 27, 1946. He was a truck driver for Union Gas/MidAmerica company before retiring in 1977. His hobbies were Fishing and watching basketball and football. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Chambers, and a son Robert Chambers. Survivors are his wife Jennie of the home , daughter Vicky Merimee of Overland Park KS. Son Richard L, Chambers and wife Peggy of Parker , 4 granchildren, 8 great grandchildren and sister Margaret B. Stephens of Bonner Springs KS.
