Frank Daniel “Dan” Fogle, Jr, 83, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Dan was born on Thursday, June 2, 1932, in Williamsburg, Kansas, the son of Frank Daniel Sr. and Mildred B. (Ashton) Fogle. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident. He also spent time in Colorado and Mexico. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1950 and attended Ottawa University and Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Dan served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until 1956 and played the bassoon in the Air Force Band. He was a member of the Rotary Club and worked on fund raising for the Boys’ Club, both in Ottawa and served as a City Commissioner from 1987 until 1991 and as Mayor in 1990. Dan was united in marriage with Carol Pauline Sjogren May 27, 1961, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death December 20, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Fogle. His is survived by his three children, Brent Fogle and wife Georgia of Olathe, Kansas, Pamela Horsch and husband J.D. of Ottawa, and Danni Fogle and husband Art Clack of Mitchell, Nebraska; brothers, C. Richard Fogle and wife Sylvia of Ottawa, Theodore “Ted” Fogle and wife Karen of Ottawa, Karl Fogle and wife Sharon of Howard, Colorado and John Fogle and wife Barbara of Dana Point, California; sister, Katherine Fogle of Salida, Colorado; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was co-owner/operator of Fogle Quarry for thirty-four years from 1964 until 1998. He and his brother built the quarry into the largest and most computerized in Kansas. He worked at the quarry for his father before he and his brother, Richard, took over the operation in 1964. Dan’s passion was dirt bike racing and was ranked number one in the state of Kansas in his class at one time. He also liked to bicycle and rode in tours across Kansas and Wisconsin. He also enjoyed traveling the world. He had a love for music and was an accomplished bass fiddle, bassoon and saxophone player.
