Elsie Ruth Slifer

Elsie Ruth Slifer, 86, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Rock Creek of Ottawa, Ottawa, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 25, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

Interment Antioch Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas.

Elsie was born Thursday, July 29, 1937, in Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of George V. and Mabel Alice (Dial) Edgerton.

She was a lifelong Ottawa resident.

Elsie graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1955.

She was united in marriage to Everett Lee Slifer in Ottawa, Kansas on October 17, 1959. He proceeded her in death on October 7, 2020.

Elsie was employed as a seamstress for many years working for H.D. Lee and Mode O’Day.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Elsie enjoyed music, singing, playing the organ, listening to Tennessee Ernie Ford, sewing and flowers. She especially enjoyed her time with her husband and family.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Everett; parents George and Mabel; granddaughter Christina Eva Slifer; and brother Gerald Edgerton.

Survivors include sons Michael Slifer (Lori) and Darold Slifer both of Ottawa; grandson Michael Patrick Slifer of Wichita, Kansas; sister Georgianna Buresh of Topeka, Kansas; and brother in laws Robert Slifer of Ottawa, Kansas and Ronnie Slifer of Wichita, Kansas.
