Elsie Leona Sieg was born on Thursday, October 16, 1913, in Logan, Kansas. She was the daughter of Roy and Ida (Siegrist) Wallgren. During her life, she resided in Mountain View, Oklahoma; Sanger, Texas; Wellsville, Kansas; Stockton, Kansas; and Ottawa, Kansas. She was a resident of Wellsville Retirement Community in Wellsville, Kansas, until her death on Friday, September 17, 2010, at the age of ninety-six years. Elsie graduated from Logan High School with the class of 1934. She was a homemaker. She also taught at a country school for five years in Phillips County, Kansas. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, where she was also a member of Lend-a-Hand Class. On Saturday, May 1, 1937, Elsie was united in marriage with Elmer Charles Sieg in Stockton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1987. Elsie loved her family and enjoyed living on the farm while raising her children. She was an excellent cook and a great listener having time for everyone. She always enjoyed playing cards. She will be missed by all who knew her. Elsie is survived by three grandchildren, Karl G. Sieg of Orlando, Florida, Kent G. Sieg of Libertyville, Maryland, Keith G. Sieg of Ottawa, Kansas; and four great-grandchildren, Jonathan G. Sieg of Tallahassee, Florida, James G. Sieg of Orlando, Florida, Katerina D. Sieg of Ottawa, Kansas, and Christel N. Sieg of Ottawa, Kansas. In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie is preceded in death by her son, Karlos G. Sieg; daughter, Delores A. (Sieg) Williams; brother, Leonard Wallgren; and four sisters, Faith Kern, Mary Mader, Lola Binns, and Pauline Harding. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010. IN STATE: Mrs. Sieg will lie in state at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 10:00 a.m. Saturday, where the family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 Saturday afternoon prior to service. CEMETERY: Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Miami County, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Wellsville Retirement Community, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
