Eldon Richard Knop, age 88, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Sunrise Senior Living, in Overland Park, Kansas, after a short battle with cancer.
Private family burial will take place at Bucyrus Cemetery.
Eldon was born on December 5, 1934, in Chiles, Kansas. He was the son of Arthur Henry and Esther Grace (Whitaker) Knop. He was the youngest of five children; Welby, Winston, Virgil, Lewis and Eldon. He graduated from Louisburg High School with the class of 1952.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he married Marie Salyer. Together they had three children, Sheryl, Carl and Jan. This union ended in divorce.
He was employed for many years with the Pima County Wastewater Management Department, Solid Waste Division of Arizona, earning top rewards for his dedication and workmanship. He later returned to Louisburg to be closer to his family and friends. Eldon was a member of the American Legion John P. Hand Post 250 and a dedicated member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Eldon enjoyed his bowling league and tending to his flower gardens. He was most devoted to his loving puppy companion Tuffy!
He is preceded in death by his brothers; Welby and his wife Virginia, Winston and his wife, Barbara and Virgil, sister-in-law, Carol wife of Lewis, daughter Sheryl, and his beloved puppy, Tuffy.
He is survived by his brother, Lewis, sister-in-law Carol, wife of Virgil, son, Carl, daughter, Jan, as well as multiple grandchildren and extended family.
