Edith Marie Ridgway, 79, of Gardner, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008. She was born Friday, March 29, 1929, in Baxter Springs, to Colonel John Spruell and Edna (Owens) Spruell. She lived in Shawnee Mission for about 25 years, moving to Ottawa in 1995 and Gardner in October of 2005. She graduated from Manual High school in Kansas City, Mo., and attended Barnes Business College in Denver, Colo., for three years. She was a homemaker. She married Eldon B. Ridgway May 19, 1962, in Grandview, Mo. He survives of their home. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Ann Decker, Olathe; and Gloria Jean Brewer, Fairway; a sister, Mildred Rippy, of Oregon; a brother, Oren Robert 'Bob' Spruell, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; two grandsons, Richard L. 'Ricky' Decker, Jr., Olathe; and Larry V. Decker, Brookfield, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren, Megan Decker, Matthew Decker, Whitney Decker and Ryan Decker. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clyde Eugene Spruell. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens Cemetery, West 75th Street and 7 Highway, Olathe. Friends may pay their respects after 5 p.m. Sunday to the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Olathe. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
