Earnest "Peck" Cornett, age 86, of rural Osawatomie, Kansas passed away February 26, 2021 at his home. Peck was born on February 27, 1934, the fourth of five children born to Delbert James and Viola Alice (Rookstool) Cornett. He attended school in Parker, graduating from Parker High School with the Class of 1954. Peck served his country with the United States Army. He was united in marriage to JoAnn McDougal on October 12, 1956 at Osawatomie. They became the parents of one daughter Jody. They made their home in rural Osawatomie. Peck worked in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for Reno Construction which later became Apac of Kansas. He was a member of the Operators Union Local 101. Peck's hobbies included hunting, fishing, raising cattle, and country cruising. He loved his family and enjoyed helping them whenever he could. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings James Cornett, Evelyn Russell, and John Cornett. He is survived by his wife JoAnn and daughter Jody of the home; brother Delbert Cornett (Joan) of Parker; many other relatives and friends. Private graveside services will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Memorials are to Regina's Rescue and can be sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Family and friends are encouraged to post their memories and condolences on Peck's tribute wall.
