Dottie D. Miller, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her home in Ottawa, Kansas, with her family by her side. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 17, 2015, at Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas. Dottie was born Thursday, April 8, 1937, in Michigan Valley, Kansas, the daughter of Sample and Areitta (Decker) Watts. She was a lifelong Franklin County and Ottawa resident. She graduated from Appanoose High School, Pomona, Kansas, with the class of 1955. Dottie was united in marriage with Charles Leroy Miller May 25, 1955, in Wellsville, Kansas. He preceded her in death November 19, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Leigh Ann Miller; parents, Sample and Areitta Watts; brother, Norman Watts; grandson, Codie Prochaska; and nephew, Doug Watts. Survivors include her three sons, Layman Miller and wife Carol of Ottawa, Leonard Miller of Ottawa, and Lonnie Miller and fiancé, Nancy Korgol of Ft. Worth, Texas; siblings, John Watts and wife Patty of Ottawa, Eva Kay Myers and husband George of Ottawa, and Alva Watts and wife Connie of Mountain View, Missouri; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dottie was a devoted lifelong homemaker. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Dottie loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was lovingly known as “Grandma” or “tough old bird”. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, homemaking, and sitting around the kitchen table drinking coffee and telling stories. She loved her dogs and cats, including Scrapper and Meow Meow Kitty, and was always there to help people in need. The family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
