Dorothy E. Ingle, age 85, of Topeka, Kansas, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Ingle from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the Gage Park Baptist Church, 3601 SW 10th St., Topeka. Dorothy was born on Monday, June 30, 1930 in Franklin County, Kansas near Pomona, the daughter of Harold H. and Louise (Reed) Van Horn. Dorothy grew up on a farm south of Pomona in the Greenwood Community and was a resident of Topeka since 1961. Dorothy graduated from Pomona High School in Pomona, Kansas with the class of 1948 and Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics in 1951. Dorothy taught school twenty years at Landon Junior High School in Topeka, retiring in 1989. Dorothy was a member of Gage Park Baptist Church in Topeka since 1962, and the Topeka Association of Family and Consumer Services. She taught Bible studies for twenty-two years at Atria Hearthstone Retirement Center, also of Topeka. Dorothy loved organizing gatherings for family and friends at her home and planning family reunions. She was known for her excellent cooking and enjoyed gardening. Dorothy treasured her grandchildren and taking care of them. On August 8, 1951 Dorothy was united in marriage with Allan N. Ingle at Pomona, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Louise Van Horn. She is survived by her sons, David Ingle and his wife, Joy of Bixby, Oklahoma, Paul Ingle of San Francisco, California, and Mark Ingle and his wife, Teresa of Topeka; sister, Marjorie Atkins of Topeka; brother, Harold “Jack” Van Horn and his wife, Cleta of St. Augustine, Florida; grandchildren, Andrew Ingle, Michael Ingle, Autumn Turner, Amy Ingle and Ryan Ingle, and great granddaughter, Hailey Turner.
