Dorothy Ann Evans

Dorothy Ann Evans, 76, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015, at Olathe Medical Center Hospice House. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Quenemo, Kansas. Dorothy was born Monday, October 10, 1938 in Lyndon, Kansas, the daughter of Rolland Phelon Ferris, Sr. and Amy L. (Burgess) Ferris. They preceded her in death. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. Dorothy attended rural schools and then Rantoul High School in Rantoul, Kansas. She later earned her General Education Development diploma. She was a homemaker also working seventeen years in housekeeping positions, and was the supervisor of housekeeping at Ottawa University for two and a half years. She attended Ottawa Community Church. Dorothy was united in marriage with Kenneth Evans in January, 1957, at Wellsville, Kansas. They later divorced. Survivors include her son, Timothy Evans of Ottawa, daughter, Zina Evans of Ottawa, siblings, Rolland Ferris, Jr. of Pomona, Martha Ruffier of Kansas City, Missouri, James Ferris of Ottawa, William Ferris of Overland Park, Marion Ferris of Edgerton, Robert Ferris of Baldwin City, Dale Ferris of Wheaton, Missouri, David Ferris also of Wheaton, and Kay Ferris of Ottawa; eight grandchildren, Tonya, Shaun, Matthew, Carmen, Cai, Danielle, Katie and Hayden; eight great grandchildren and one on the way.
