Doris J. Brown, 88, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Doris was born Tuesday, August 17, 1926, at home near Globe, Kansas, the daughter of Benjamin and Grace (Bragg) Hoffman. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. She attended Brubaker School, through 8th grade, near Globe and Overbrook. Doris was united in marriage with Homer E. Brown October 29, 1950, in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 22, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Ruth Hoffman; four brothers, Delbert, Lloyd, Fred and Howard Hoffman; and six sisters, Anna Stahel, Theresa Salsbery, Vergie Heffner, Myrtle Eggert, Sally Hepner, and Wilma Domino. Survivors include her two children, Galen Brown and wife Darla of Pomona, and Richard Brown of Ottawa; siblings, Maridona Cain of Ottawa, Maurice Hoffman of Des Moines, Iowa, and Donnie Hoffman and wife Bernie of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren, Cori Brown and significant other Russ Allen, Beth Hobbs, and Hunter and Dustin Thompson; and three great grandchildren, Arrington Allen, Shamai Hobbs and Jackson Blotzer. She worked as a seamstress, between 1944 and 1950, for Bruce Thomas Sewing Factory, H.D. Lee and Hercules Powder Plant.
