Doris Borland

Doris Borland, age 98, of Lawrence, Kansas, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence. She was born on Thursday, June 08, 1911, in Princeton, Kansas. She was the daughter of Oliver Lee and Mary Elizabeth “Mamie” (Beal) Roberts. She lived in Lawrence since 2001, moving from Rantoul, Kansas, where she lived most of her life. Doris graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1929. She was a homemaker. On February 4, 1939, Doris was united in marriage with John Milton Borland in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death March 23, 1976. She is survived by: Daughter-Juanita Whitebread & her husband, Milton, Lawrence, KS Daughter-Arlene Burgoon & her husband, Ronnie, Topeka, KS Son-John Borland, Jr., Topeka, KS Grandchildren-Four Gt.Grandchildren-Five She was preceded in death by: Husband-John Milton Borland Father-Oliver Lee Roberts Mother-Mary Elizabeth “Mamie” (Beal) Roberts Sister-Ethel Roberts Sister-Mildred Eighman Sister-Edith Greenfield Sister-Irene Eigsti Sister-Ruth Ward SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Borland at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.
