RESIDENCE HISTORY: Donald lived in Ottawa since 1962, moving from Michigan Valley. EDUCATION: Donald graduated from Michigan Valley High School with the class of 1945. OCCUPATION & BUSINESS: He was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Ottawa for thirty years, retiring in 1995. He also drove a milk truck for Bennett`s Creamery for twelve years on Route #47. For a few years, he delivered meals to all schools for Chartwell`s U.S.D. 290 Food Service. GOVERNMENT SERVICE: He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954, as an airport serviceman, attaining the rank of Pvt. 1st Class. MEMBERSHIPS: He was a former member of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Ottawa. MARRIAGE: On February 2, 1962, Donald was united in marriage with Ruby McCurdy at Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 Wednesday, March 9, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Nobel Gould. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. McKay at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Monday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas, with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 of Ottawa. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Donald D. McKay Memorial Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through dengelmortuary@sbcglobal.net.
