Donald D. Blundell Jr. age 70 of Paola passed away Thursday at the Miami County Hospital Graveside Services will be Saturday at 2:30 PM at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 2:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rosary being recited at 2:00PM. Contributions may be made to the Cedar Cove Sanctuary of Louisburg, to leave a special condolences on line go to Penwell-Gabel.com. Don was born Oct. 28, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to Donald D. and Alma Madl Blundell. The family moved to Mound City, Kansas and later to Paola where Don graduated from Paola High School in 1956. On September 22, 1973 he was united in marriage to Charla Rush in Paola Kansas. Don was a butcher for several local grocery stores before opening his own business called Don"s Custom Meats for over 13 years before selling his business and going to work for the Queen"s Price Chopper for 22 years before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the White Tails Unlimited Club. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing taxidermy for family and friends, was an avid KU Fan and NASCAR Fan, he enjoyed spending time with his daughters, grandaughter and family gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife Charla of the home two daughters Raechel and husband Matt Stephens of Paola, daughter Darla Blundell of Wellsville, two sisters Mary and husband Lawrence Boehm of Hillsdale, and Beverly and husband John Holtz of Olathe, and one grandchild Malorie.
