DeWayne E. Springer, 73, Richmond, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Richmond Cemetery. He was born Thursday, Jan. 24, 1935, at Leonardville to Adelbert and Marjorie (Pickering) Springer. He graduated from St. George High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps. He worked as a small engine mechanic at Underwood Equipment, Ottawa. He married Darlene Godfrey June 23, 1993, at Miami, Okla. She survives. Survivors also include a son, Justin Springer, of the home; daughters, Linda Ellison, Eudora, and Jerrilynn Specie, Henderson, Tenn.; a brother, Robert Springer, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Sharon LeClair, Lawrence; six grandchildren and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Joyce Springer. Friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be sent to Central Heights Scholarship Fund or Richmond Public Library in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
