Desira "Desi" Shoemaker

Desi Sue Shoemaker, age 59, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 19th, 2024, at Olathe Medical Center.

Desi was born Wednesday, November 25th, 1964, in Paola, Kansas, the daughter of Perry and Vana (Vanwick) Hawkins. She attended school in Osawatomie and Paola and graduated from Paola High School with the Class of 1983.

She worked at Marion Laboratories for approximately 11 years. She had also worked in management at Sprint for over 17 years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her German Shepherds (Jasko, Doby, and Ruko) and her horses (Bailey and Mia) over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and son Derek Shoemaker.

Survivors include her spouse, Mark Shoemaker of Olathe, KS; two children Sydney (Ryan) Shoemaker of Columbia, MO and Trey Shoemaker of Olathe, KS; two brothers Brian Hawkins of Mound City, KS and Johnny Banks of Denver, CO; one Uncle Chucky Hawkins of Beaumont, TX; many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Institute of Mental Health or American Lung Association, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary - Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl St. Paola, KS 66071.
