David Kenneth Paddock

David Kenneth Paddock, 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

Family will meet with friends prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the mortuary.

Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

David was born May 10, 1944, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Raymond Kenneth and Darlene Marjorie (Prather) Paddock. He grew up in La Harpe, Kansas, graduating with La Harpe High School class of 1963.

He enlisted with the United States Army on May 28,1963, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was discharged May 27, 1966, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. His commendations included the Expert Badge (Rifle) and the Good Conduct Medal.

On October 10, 1965, David was united in marriage to Margaret “Peggy” Irene Call in La Harpe. They were happily married 57 years having two children, Dana and Justin.

He was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for 32 years as the Manager of Signal Maintenance, retiring January 31, 2000. After retirement in 2003, David and Peggy moved to Ottawa.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 of Ottawa; Masonic Lodge No. 144, A.F. & A.M. of Yates Center, Kansas; Warren Black Post 60, American Legion of Ottawa; Ottawa Lodge 803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; and Abdallah Shrine Temple of Overland Park.

David loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was interested in his genealogy and woodworking.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Dana Kae (Paddock) Doeden on April 22, 1999, and his parents Raymond and Darlene Paddock.

Survivors include his loving wife Peggy Paddock of the home; son Justin Ray (Janet) Paddock of Ottawa; and three grandchildren, Morgan, Lauren and Raygen Paddock.
